About 22 years ago, I started looking for a house... I was single, unengaged, and unmarried just looking out for my future. A dear friend, Geri Gardner, called and told me she wanted to sell her home because she was building a new one just to the North. It was a prime location to
me. Close to my parents and (dad's) side of the family. There was only one stipulation, her Daughter Mary, and Son-In-Law Mike (Spiess) might be interested in it. She doubted very much that they would ever move out into the country. Well sure enough, I got the call from Geri, (after I had my hopes up), that they indeed were going to take it. "Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers" (sing it like Garth Brooks) because I would have never bought our home on US#6. (And this place we poured all our love into) Okay, back to my story... So now years later, 22 to be exact, Geri has passed on, and Mike and Mary have moved into her home. I got wind of the this house coming for sale and I told them we'd like 1st chance at it. They agreed, we got together, negotiated a price, and bought it......It is the cutiest place. We hope to rent it out for a few years before one of our girls might be looking for a place to live. The reason I titled this
"Back In The Family" is because Oma's brother, Uncle Matt Flasch and wife, Aunt Theresa once owned this home. Mom believed it was back in the 1940's thru 1960's, she said she remembers playing there as a child with her cousins. She also told me that there used to be a big barn that sat on the property, Mom thought her dad (Mike) built it along with his brother-in-law, Uncle Matt. The old hay forks are still there in the milkhouse, I love the thought that my Grandpa Mike (Mom's Dad that died when she was only 10) might have handled these forks that are still there today.
I will follow up with a picture....but not now, the Biggest Loser Is About To Come On
